Energy transition Japan good comparison for Dutch strategy

Ever since the nuclear disaster in Fukushima in 2011, the transition in Japan to alternative uses of energy has gained momentum. The applications of hydrogen has taken a central role in this is process.

Similar to the Netherlands, Japan possesses strong and innovative industries in Chemistry and High Tech Systems and Materials (HTSM). Ever since Fukushima, Japan has developed strongly in the fields of chemical conversion and storing energy. A delegation of IA-Tokio and RVO.nl visited knowledge institutes, business and governmental bodies to get to know these developments. The visits correspond with the fields of chemistry, HTSM and energy,

The knowledge mission proved to be a strong benchmark for the participants (ISPT, TNO, ECN, Shell, Differ, TU Eindhoven and HyET) and offered further insight into usable (implementation-)strategies for new energy (systems) in the Netherlands. The mission also brought to light opportunities for further technological cooperation with Japan in the fields of chemistry and HTSM.
